Huh, my Alfa’s ignition would turn no matter what you decided to use as a key.
“Aw shit, I left the key inside. Good thing I have my pocket knife and don’t need to walk 10 feet to go get it”

Growing up my dad had a 96 Bronco, you could pull the key out while driving and it would still run.

Have you looked into replacing it yourself? It’s not a complex system and replacing could be pretty simple.

The key in my S3 spider does/ did this.
The first time it was because my key was starting to fail and was actually slightly twisted. Hammered it flat and it worked fine until I got a new one cut.
It still does it sometimes even with the new key and pulling on the key core assembly seems to help.
